Shangshi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
West-central Jiangxi. The Shangshi Fm was named by the Jiangxi Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1965. The typical section is situated in Shangshi village (Tianxin Town) in Fenyi County, Jiangxi Province.

Lithology and Thickness
With a variable lithology, the Shangshi Fm in the naming locality is dominated by greenish gray phyllite, intercalated with blasto fine-sandstone and sandy to silty phyllite, occasionally with carbonaceous sericite phyllite. The facies change southward to dark gray thick-bedded blasto-tuffite, occasionally with tuffaceous sandstone and sedimentary rhythmicity becomes clear northward, bearing graded beddings, ripple marks (sandstone), and laminations and cross-laminations (phyllite). It is more than 1560 m thick.
